The Hong Kong General Chamber of Textiles Limited
("HKGCOT")was established in 1997 by unifying a number
of established textile associations. Soon after, it became a Hong
Kong legislative defined association.
HKGCOT
has listed companies and mainland flagship companies amongst its
members. Most of HKGCOT members' primary businesses are in textiles:
trading, manufacturing, printing, dyeing and garment manufacturing.
It is worth mentioning that a large number of HKGCOT members have
over 40 years of experience in the textile industry; they are pioneers
in China Trade and have successfully opened up export opportunities
to many places in the world. Moreover, HKGCOT members are highly
appraised in the community for their valuable contributions to the
building of the motherland and the welfare of her people.
The
lifting of the export quota system on textiles in year 2005 and
the signing of the CEPA between mainland and Hong Kong bring forth
opportunities as well as challenges. HKGCOT strives to foster better
co-operation between textile industries in Hong Kong and the mainland.
Hong Kong is in the center of a world trade network with a workforce
that is not only efficient and experienced, but also super adaptive
